A parish council is a group of parishioners chosen from and by the parish
community, who together with the parish priest(s) guide and oversee parish
affairs as the community attempts to fulfill the mission of the church.
The St. Dominic Parish Council typically meets the second Thursday of each
month, August – June in the Parish Center at 7:00 p.m. Please consult the Parish
calendar for the latest dates - all are welcome to attend.
The purpose of the council is pastoral planning. The focus of the parish
council is on the mission, not on management. The council fulfills its purpose
through a variety of functions.
-
It continuously examines the various aspects of the life of
the parish in light of the parish mission statement.
-
It assesses parish needs, determines priorities and options
to meet those needs with available resources, and evaluates programs and
services designed to meet parish needs.
-
It weighs issues and proposes practical conclusions to the
pastor about them
-
It develops policies that serve to carryout the parish
mission statement.
A Parish Council is… Prayerful, Pastoral, Representative, Discerning,
Prophetic, Empowering, and Collaborative. - Taken from the Archdiocese of

Lord Jesus, We thank you for your presence in our lives and
in our church. We ask that as we seek your will for the Future of
St. Dominic, through Vision 2012, that you send your Holy Spirit to
guide and direct our path. We ask this through Christ, our Lord.
Amen. |

After many years of working in the Engineering field, I retired in 2005
from the Kohler Co. Kohler, WI. There I worked in their Engine
Application Department as an Engineering Analyst / Cad Designer. Since
retiring, I have been working as a Eucharistic Minister at both St.
Joseph’s and Elm Brook hospital. I feel this is a wonderful opportunity
of serving our Lord and fellow Catholics.
My wife, Polly and I have been members at St. Dominic for over 15 years.
We were married at St. Dominic in 1972. Members of SJV for 20 years,
there we were both involved in Faith Formation, Focus, Elementary and
Conformation programs. Our youngest daughter, Sarah Donaldson is also a
kindergarten teacher in the faith formation program at St. Dominic.
I was nominated this year, to consider serving on Parish Council. The
discernment process helped me and other nominees to decide whether this
was the time to serve. I accepted. Serving our Parish on Council takes
me to a new level in my spiritual journey. With the aid of the Holy
Spirit, Staff and all Parish Council members, I hope to serve to the
best of my abilities. I thank all for this privilege and challenge. |

I am a lifelong member of St. Dominic Catholic Parish, receiving my
sacraments here. My belief in and connection with the Catholic
Church were firm at a young age and have been throughout my life. I
have made distinct choices to keep myself connected and active in my
faith life. A critical decision as a young adult was to choose Cardinal
Stritch University, a Catholic college. As an adult, no matter
where I’ve lived, each Sunday I have attended Mass and served the
community in a variety of ways.
Upon moving back home to Wisconsin in 1997, I immediately sought to get
reconnected with
St. Dominic Parish. First, I became a lector and Eucharistic minister.
I’ve also been a catechist for the past 11 years, adult chaperone for
Group Workcamps and currently in my 5th year as a member of the Human
Resources Committee.
I am the youngest of nine children, married to Tom, my husband, and am a
Human Resources professional currently in a job search. I love
St. Dominic Catholic Parish and it is an honor and privilege to serve on
the Parish Council. I hope to prove worthy of this calling from the
Holy Spirit and the mission of our parish. |
