Way back in 1994, we came up with a set of fifteen very simple
"rules" that have served us well ever since. Five are
covered in the material on the other pages of the Teen Choir
website; the rest are found below. They're so simple as to
need no explanation. Here they are:
- Take care of each other. (Or, if you prefer Bill and
Ted's version: "Be excellent to one another!"
(If you don't get the reference, go out and rent the DVD
Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure.)
- Maximize rehearsal time: Concentrate!
- "Good enough" isn't good enough. "Best" is.
- Remember for Whom you're doing this.
- Rehearsals start on time.
- At least once during the week, remember your choir mates
and your director in your prayers. Know that they are
doing the same for you. While you're at it, give
thanks for your abundant talent.
- Shun the mediocre (see #3).
- Attain excellence (see #7).
- Laugh often, seek out and master the difficult, and
acknowledge beauty wherever you find it.
- Make the wind sweeter with the sound of your singing.
