Excerpt from the February 2011 Seek Christ Article featuring
Joyce Sauer:
Favorite Scripture: “For those that God has given much, much
is expected” Luke 12:48 Favorite Prayer: Prayer of St
Francis; the words being a guiding force in how I was raised and how we
raised our children.
Favorite Church Song: “Gentle Woman”, a song I have
always loved. It reminds me of my mother and is also how I wish to live
my life. Lyrics are wonderful, “Gentle Woman, so strong and bright.
Teach us wisdom, teach us love….”
Would Love to Meet: President Obama, a man of
significant historical meaning as the first black president.
How I Use My Talents: In the best way I can and take
the long view that God’s kingdom is beyond our efforts and beyond our
view. We can only accomplish a small fraction of what is God’s purpose
and intention for His creation.
Family and Education: Having 5 children and now 13
grand-kids; family takes up much of my free time these days. In the past
I have been involved in all of our children’s schools, having served
three times as PTA President: grade school, middle school and high
school, as well as Lay Principal of Religious Education for three years
at St. Jude Parish. Prior to teaching at St Dominic, I graduated
“several years ago” from St. Benedict College in Minnesota and then
continued taking classes in computers, accounting and other business
type courses.
What to Leave Behind: I hope to leave my family and the
many children with whom I have worked, with a sense of caring and of
being of service to others.
Where God is Found: God is found at St. Dominic in the
image of the beautiful children and the dedicated and terrific staff who
teaches and nurtures their well being and gives joy to all of us.
Technology at St. Dominic School: Prepares every
student to be technologically literate in ways that will assist them in
high school and in the years beyond, whether in college, technical
school or in future employment. The goal of the staff and of me is to
instill a respect and a purposeful use of the technology that they are
part of.
Person I Admire the Most: My husband; his passion and
dedication to serving others, through various organizations of the
Catholic Church, has been part of our lives since we married in 1961.
That has been a guiding force in our family and has continued to add a
very special dimension and meaning to my life.
Both Mrs. Sauer and her husband Dave have been involved extensively
in the Church and Catholic healthcare, both domestically and
internationally. Mrs. Sauer states that her life and their children and
grandchildren’s lives have been greatly affected by this involvement.
Mrs. Sauer claims that much of her husband’s continued work in
developing world countries has inspired her to stay engaged and work
with the students at St. Dominic. Mrs. Sauer hopes that St. Dominic
students will learn to embrace all people in peace, regardless of color,
religion or political persuasion utilizing all the skills learned at St.
Dominic School. She maintains she receives much more from St. Dominic
School than she gives and is grateful for the wonderful staff,
supportive Home & School Association, and the beautiful children with
whom she works. |
