Mrs. Gesiorek was raised in and received her education in Poland. She
started playing the violin at age 5 and attended music school for 12
years in her hometown of Opole. Upon graduation, she attended one
Europe’s finest music academies, in Warsaw, Poland where she studied the
viola performance with the principal of the Grand Opera, Professor
Blazej Sroczynski. During her studies, Mrs. Gesiorek played in chamber
groups, several orchestras, and also performed solo with an orchestra
during a Youth Music Festival in Bayreuth, Germany.
After moving to the United States, Mrs. Gesiorek became a member of
the Civic Orchestra and was accepted as a substitute player with the
Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. She joined many members of the Symphony in
the Milwaukee Chamber Orchestra and played with them for four seasons,
under director Stephen Colburn.
Mrs. Gesiorek developed an interest in teaching after her second son
was born. She started a private studio and began teaching violin and
viola with the Alverno College Community Arts Department and later with
Project Create at Carroll College. In 1991 Mrs. Gesiorek started the
string program at St. John Vianney school and six years later expanded
to St. Dominic school.
In 2005, by the Civic Music Association of Milwaukee chose Mrs.
Gesiorek as their Music Teacher of the Year. This award was a special
honor to her not only because of its prestige but also because it came
from her own students and their parents. |
