WCSS Track Meet 2008 |
Introduction
The Athletic Association is pleased to be able to offer you the opportunity
to participate as a member of the 2008 St. Dominic Track Team. Being a member of
the team is a unique experience.
-
Track is our only sport which includes coed participation of
grades 5th through 8th combined. Student athletes practice together and
compete at the same meets, offering a broader social atmosphere outside the
normal classroom setting. Individual events, however, are run based on
gender and grade.

There are no tryouts, or “A/B” team splits.

Training, competition, and recognition are geared toward
individual strengths. Athletes can participate in a variety of events
including running (sprints, mid, long distance, and relays), jumping (high
and long), and throwing (softball, shot put and discus). Individual times
and distances are charted throughout the season to measure progress.
Athletes are awarded ribbons in individual events at the meets. School
records are honored on our Track Plaque located in the gymnasium lobby.

Outdoor practices and meets enable the athletes to enjoy (or
cope?) with Wisconsin’s spring weather. Meets are held at various area
tracks. See the schedule and locations below.

Track is a relatively short season (end of March through
middle of May).

Low fee --- $35.00 per athlete.

We will be having personalized T-shirts for everyone
included in the fee!
If your child is interested in taking advantage of this opportunity, complete
the registration form, include payment, and mail to or drop off at the parish or
school office no later than March 14th, 2008. A physical must have been
completed within the last two years and be on file with the Athletic Association
in order for your child to participate.
Each athlete should be wearing a running shoe with a good arch support (no
spikes are allowed). Rodiez’s Running Store (10903 W. Lincoln Ave., in West
Allis) and Performance Running Outfitters (2205 N. Calhoun Rd. in Brookfield)
has offered a 15% discount on all running shoes. Just mention that you are a
member of the St. Dominic Track Team to receive the discount.
A parent information meeting will be held on Monday, March 17, 2008 at 7:00
p.m. in the Cafeteria. Any questions can be directed to the Track

Holy Apostle’s Track Meet at Catholic Memorial H.S:
(Field Events Friday, Running Events Saturday) 601 E. College Avenue,
Waukesha. Take I-94 west to Hwy 18 West exit. Stay on Hwy 18 to
Hwy 164. Turn left on Hwy 164 and go to the 6th set of stop and go lights
which will be Racine Ave. Turn to your right on Racine Ave. and go 3/4
mile down the road until you come to College Ave. Turn left on College Ave.
and we are 2 blocks up the street on your left.

Practice Schedule
2008
All practices will take place at the Brookfield
East High School track – Lilly Road and Burleigh from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m.
(Some practices will be at St. Dominic due to conflicts with East’s track.) See
below for practice days and times. Please be prompt in dropping off your child
for practice - warm-ups begin at 5:30 p.m. and picking your child after
practice at 7:00 p.m. If we have cold or rainy weather, the coaches will
notify you of the canceling of practice for that day approximately 1 hour prior
to practice time.
(*We will be meeting at St. Dominic Gym because we can’t get the B-East
track. **Practice will be from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at B-East.)
